Philip Akin: Order of Canada
Philip Akin was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in June 2026 for his contributions to Canadian theatre and television and for championing Black artists. Appointments are made for sustained achievement at three levels: Companion, Officer, and Member. A Member (C.M.) recognizes distinguished service in or to a particular community, group, or field of activity.
Brenda Kamino: Order of Canada
Brenda Kamino was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in June 2026 for being a champion of equitable representation who advocates non-traditional casting, expanding opportunities for marginalized artists and transforming diversity in Canada’s performing arts. Appointments are made for sustained achievement at three levels: Companion, Officer, and Member. A Member (C.M.) recognizes distinguished service in or to a particular community, group, or field of activity.
